Motor oil as well as other lubricants made from crude have many different sized molecules.
Premium Amsoil Synthetic, typically made from natural gas, has molecules all the same size.
When heated the former tends to evaporate off its smaller molecules and leave a sludge coating. Amsoil Synthetic has the opposite effect. It gradually removes sludge.
If conventional oil has been used for over 30,000 miles it might be best to do Amsoil Engine Flush when converting to Amsoil Synthetics.

Amsoil Engine Flush provides quick removal of engine sludge formed by the use of conventional oil.
A bottle of Flush is added to the motor just prior to an oil drain. The motor is than allowed to run for 15 minutes and the oil drained. Directions are on the bottle.
Over a period of time, Amsoil Synthetic Oil will also gradually remove sludge.
Consumers can choose to go through successive oil changes to get the sludge out gradually or more quickly with the engine flush.
