CARS

There was a 55 Chevy Wagon, red. I think Dad bought that new but sold it pretty soon. I was disappointed

There was a Renault Dauphine, an amazing piece of French junk that broke down all the time. I tried to talk Dad into buying a VW but to no avail. He bought the Renault. Later Randy and I got a 1966 Yellow Chevelle Super Sport 396. I think Randy put a cam in it. That thing rocked. I dated Joanne in it. Later I did buy a VW myself.

Next, I bought a 72 Vette with automatic so Joanne could drive it. Kendra, a baby, sat in between us on the center console. As a result, she unlike her mother, had no problem with stick shifts later in life.

I remember the 76 Chrysler Custom Newport. The biggest car ever made. Kendra learned to drive in it. She called it the hearse. I figured if something hit her she would win.

In the early 90’s I got the 91 Mazda Navaho (Ford Explorer) and 93 Oldsmobile Bravada. Both SUV’s are still running with their original drive trains because of Amsoil. I have to wonder how long the others would have lasted with Amsoil.

Car Wash

This summer I converted a car wash to Amsoil Synthetics. This included oil for pumps and compressor oil for an Ingersoll-Rand Compressor. The owner had already noticed a fuel economy improvement in their vehicles and than reported that the car wash was consuming $200/month less electric. Plus things sounded a lot better in the pump room.

Polar Vortex

– April — Amsoil Doggy

In sub-zero weather fuel economy can diminish as much as 50%. This means that a vehicle that normally gets 20mpg is now getting only 10mpg!

Reasons:

1.) Colder air is denser and the vehicle must push through it.
2.) Traction is not as good because tires and pavement are colder.
3.) Colder fuel and air are more difficult to atomize.

SAVINGS

FUEL SAVINGS CHEAT SHEET
(Average Consumer Saves $1000/yr using AMSOIL)

METHOD SAVINGS

Synthetic Motor Oil 3-5%
Synthetic ATF 3-5%
Synthetic Gear Lube 3-5%
Performance Improver Gas Treatmt 2-6%
Iridium Plugs Premium Wire Set 3-4%
Nanofiber Technology Air Filter 1-2%
Propylene Glycol Antifreeze .5%

Average Minimum Gas Savings Over Conventional Oil 15.5%

A gain of just 15% can cause savings of $400.00 for every 10,000 miles driven.

Get substantially longer engine and transmission life.

25,000 mile oil changes save time and even more money.

Just doing the motor and using PI Fuel Treatment can give a 15% boost.

( 93% of Americans still use conventional oil. This unfortunately pollutes the atmosphere and costs them $200-$2000/year per vehicle in fuel alone ).

The Rise of CoQ10

– Maiden Hair Wildflower, Photo by Steve Dawes 2014.

New studies re-affirm the huge role of CoQ10 in heart health. Now another study shows that CoQ10 lowers Blood Pressure 10-15%.

CoQ10 exists through almost all cells of the body.

Corrects energy starved heart in studies again.

About 300mg’s daily dose.

CoQ10 occurs naturally in the following foods: meat, fish, nuts, broccoli and spinach. It is derived by the body from the amino acid Tyrosine.

The number 1 food source for CoQ10 are peanuts. Thus, peanut butter is a really good choice. ( I get Crazy Richards peanut butter to avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup in other brands).

If you have a heart condition you need supplemental CoQ10. Talk to your physician.

Various scientific reports and recent studies by eminent naturopaths and research doctors are available.

Estimating Fuel Savings

Only Certified Mechanical Engineers, usually with Mechanical Engineering Degrees, using 100’s of thousands of dollars worth equipment and ASTM testing standards can tell how good a lubricant is and what fuel economy improvements are at hand.

_Is there any chance that the average consumer can tell?_

Yes and No.

Keep in mind that fuel economy is determined by a lot of different variables.

Surprisingly one of the biggest is the weather. Frigid air is denser and more difficult to push through. Cold tires and pavement make for less traction. Also colder air temperature and colder fuel are more difficult for fuel systems to atomize. ( Variances are 5-30%). Everybody notices that in the winter they are getting poorer fuel economy.

This can totally wipe out real gains from using better components and premium lubricants from Amsoil.

But, there are of course many others: spark plugs, air filters, dirty fuel systems, faulty sensors, lubricity etc.

MPG gauges, if you have one, can be fooled too because they use the motors vacuum system to get their estimate. ( When your automatic transmission shifts to a lower gear your MPG gauge will report that your fuel economy has improved. This is not the case, your motor vacuum has changed.)

So, what can the average consumer do?

_Run a Controlled Experiment._

That’s one reason my Fuel Economy Cheat Sheet suggest doing the entire drive-train and using fuel additives along with other premium replacement part choices.

Prior to the age of ethanol we only had to use a fuel treatment once or twice a year. Unfortunately, the ethanol molecule separates from the petroleum molecule with the slightest condensation and sinks to the bottom of your gas tank.

Amsoil’s Performance Improver Fuel Treatment (PI) is designed to be used every 4000 miles. ( Also, Amsoil makes specific fuel treatments for diesels and small engines). Savings in fuel, on average, for someone who consumes 100 gallons of gas a month are roughly $45) Bottle PI costs $8.50 (Preferred Customer) so subtract that out.
